Confrontation with Indonesia (1964-66)
Would you be a good foreign affairs decision maker?

The Task
Welcome to this meeting of the special
Indonesian Confrontation Planning Group.
As you are aware, we are being called upon to
provide advice to the government about what we think should be its
policies and responses to Indonesian Confrontation with Malaysia.
The new nation of Malaysia is about to be
created; Indonesia does not want it to exist. We have to decide what to do
as different situations arise. Our decisions may lead to peace or war, so
we need to be very careful and certain about what we propose.
Please now read your briefing materials, and
then we can start dealing with situations as they arise.
Good luck - the future of Australia’s place
in the region may well be in your hands!
