Confrontation with Indonesia (1964-66)
Would you be a good foreign affairs decision maker?

Australia’s requirements and
priorities
-
We have a policy of ‘forward defence’
-
We want to keep friendly with Indonesia,
which is potentially a major power in the area
-
We want to keep friendly with Malaysia
-
We want a strong and anti-communist
Malaysia
-
We want an anti-communist Indonesia
-
We do not want to have to fight Indonesia
along the PNG border
-
We want American support in the region if
required for our security
-
We want to do the right thing by our old
ally, Great Britain.
