I is for Ice Life in the trenches was terrible. As well as the danger of being killed by a bomb or bullet, many ANZACs got very sick and died in the horrible conditions. Imagine being so cold that your eye lids froze shut while you were sleeping. Imagine water being carried to the soldiers as blocks of ice. Imagine having to stand in a puddle of freezing water or mud for a week at a time. The ANZACs put up with these conditions month after month after month.
