Born 12 April 1893 at Kirkley, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, migrating to Australia at the age of nineteen.

Place Pozieres, France

During an attack on enemy trenches a number of Australian troops were pinned down by machine-gun fire. Most withdrew, but some wounded were left in No Manís Land. Castleton went out twice and brought in wounded men. While bringing in a third he was hit in the back and killed instantly.
